I knew that Saturdays weather would be nice (for the end of March), and a little windy. However, I did not expect that much wind...about 20-25 mph winds. The direction of the wind was coming from my backside and then continuing on downrange. I think it actually gave the bullets a boost with that good tail wind! Since this was the first match of the year, it was a practice match. Good thing! It was supposed to be a Cross the Course match, however, we changed the match to 300 yd prone only using 600 yd reduced targets. My rifle was missing the front sling swivel, which meant I had no way to attach the sling. I tried shooting without artificial support, just my arm. Will brought over a support and that helped me get a good zero on the scope. I was a little slow and only shot 18 out of 22 rounds. The next string I shot a 184 with six X's. I was 1.5 inches low of center. Did pretty good in the wind. The next string I let a visitor shoot my rifle. He brought his Grandson to shoot and said he had never shot before. I gave him the opportunity, and he really enjoyed it. Could not stop thanking me and shaking my hand after he was done. A lot of internal satisfaction on my part.
